8.6 What happens to a burial site once it is filled?

Once the useful volume of a burial site is filled, its lifetime is over, and the area can be released for other uses. Operation and maintenance, as well as monitoring, must continue. For small sludge burial sites, the waiting time is recommended to be at least 2 years before the site can be used again.
