The costs of building a vermicompost facility will vary depending on the design, cost of land and local materials. According to the Eawag publication, “Selecting Organic Waste Treatment”, the capital expenditure (CapEx) for a vermicompost facility was the lowest compared to other technologies like composting, anaerobic digestion and slow pyrolysis, at almost 6000 USD per tonne of treatment capacity. However, the operational expenditure (OpEx) was the highest at around 950 USD per month and a tonne of treatment capacity.
