5.5 Costs

Tertiary filtration methods, such as slow sand filtration and ponds, are relatively cheap but require a lot of space. Conventional disinfection methods, artificial UV radiation, and chlorination are costlier but require less space. These disinfection methods also have higher operational costs due to consumables such as chlorine or UV lamps.
