Dorothee Spuhler is an environmental engineer that has worked for 12 years in the water sector, half in science half in practice. Her main interest lies in the technologies and management approaches that contribute to SDGs 6, save and sustainable sanitation for all – leaving no one behind and closing resource cycles. Besides applied research, Dorothee engages in scientific knowledge brokering and capacity development and has been a driving force behind SaniChoice, a decision support tool for informed sanitation technologies and system choices in development and humanitarian context and the Sustainable Sanitation and Water Management Toolbox. Dorothee is also Leader of the Global Steering Board of the Sustainable Sanitation Alliance.
