CAWST understands that capacity development is not a goal in itself, but rather a foundation to achieve SDG 6. Effective capacity development should result in knowledge transfer, skill development, behaviour change, and ultimately the implementation of appropriate solutions and more effective programs.
The capacity development need is great enough that it cannot be served by any one organization. To ensure that the services available meet the needs and priorities of the professionals doing the work and that these services ultimately result in better systems overall, continued learning, coordination, and collaboration are essential.
