Needs Assessment & Analysis

The process of identifying the immediate and longer-term sanitation needs of populations affected by emergencies or disasters. This includes conducting rapid assessments using various data collection methods to determine the extent and severity of sanitation needs and a context analysis to better understand the social, cultural, political and environmental factors that may impact sanitation behaviours and practices. It also involves identifying the strengths and weaknesses of existing sanitation systems and services in the affected area.
